LocalShortcuts / Local / development engineering note
Small tools.
Careful operations.
A local macOS menu-bar utility for launchers, search, file workflows, and guarded cleanup.
The product problem.
The direct local build brings browser switching, clipboard paths, Finder access, startup items, local search, settings archives, and other recurring workflows into one native utility. Search has cancellation, progress, supported-document extraction, and resource limits.
The implementation boundary.
The cleaner uses a typed boundary around a Python engine. It previews candidates, revalidates before applying changes, rejects protected paths, and moves eligible targets to Trash first. Settings export/import excludes private notepad content and omits secret-looking launcher values by default.
Current status.
Release packaging and App Store submission remain parked. The sandbox-safe channel is a local validation target with a narrower feature set. The useful engineering lesson is that convenience tools need explicit operating boundaries, especially when they act on local files.
